ASSITEJ World Congress and Festival 2021
A delegation of 60 theatre makers, researchers and TYA experts from Germany will join the ASSITEJ World Congress and Festival in Tokyo from 22 March - 1 April 2021.
Works of Innovation in Times of the Pandemic: ASSITEJ Germany and the Children's and Young People's Theatre Centre (KJTZ) reacted quickly to the first lockdown in 2020: 15 mini-scholarships were given to artists who had ideas how to stay in touch with their audiences and use digital tools to bridge distances. We are happy to present mit+abstand on the first day of the Congress. You can read a comprehensive reflection (by Philip Schulte) of the project-based virtual theatre season here or you can join us on March 22 to learn more about Till Wiebel's project.
New Directions in TYA: ASSITEJ Germany and the Goethe-Institute in Tokyo will host a professional exchange on directing in TYA on March 28th. Hannah Biedermann and Theo Fransz will reflect on directing from a German perspective and Kenjiro Otani and Yuna Koyama will bring their experience in Japan to the Zoom-Room we share. You can find more information on all directors and their work here or on the Website of the Goethe-Institute Tokyo.
In 2020 an English edition of our magazine IXYPSILONZETT (= XYZ) was published that invited diretors to reflect on their work. It is available as a free download here: https://www.theaterderzeit.de/archiv/ixypsilonzett/2020/05/ One of the contributors to the publication is our EC candidate Julia Dina Hesse.
Feel free to contact Meike Fechner if you have any questions or would like to contact some of the authors and directors or anyone who is part of the delegation from Germany.
ASSITEJ Germany's contribution to the 2021 World Congress and Festival is funded and supported by The Federal Department of Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugendt) and the Goethe-Institut.
